Liam Ayres is a photographic artist and assistant based in Melbourne/Naarm, working across both commercial and conceptual practices.
His commissioned work centres on sports documentary. In his conceptual practice, Liam explores themes of identity and connection.
He holds a major in Photojournalism from Photography Studies College, where he published The 433 Press (Sunday is for Football), a photobook shortlisted for the 2023 Australia & New Zealand Photobook Awards.
Alongside his studies, Liam undertook a two-year photographic assisting apprenticeship with architectural photographer Tom Ross and completed a mentorship program with art director, filmmaker, and photographer Ben Clement. These experiences continue to inform his approach across both personal and commissioned projects.
