Liam Ayres is a photographic artist based in Melbourne/Naarm. Liam focuses on documenting stories in sports that are often overlooked by mainstream media while bringing a unique perspective to capture authenticity in his work. Liam’s practice explores themes of identity, community and belonging.
Liam majored in Photojournalism at Photography Studies College where he published and released a book titled The 433 Press (Sunday is for Football) that was shortlisted in the 2023 Australia and New Zealand Photobook awards.
Liam undertook a 2-year photographic assisting apprenticeship with Architectural photographer, Tom Ross and undertook a mentor program with art director, filmmaker and photographer Ben Clement in his final year of study.
